Abstract

In his conference "Concerns, Problems and Instruments of Contemporary Theory of Argumentation", Eduardo Piacenza presents contemporary argumentation theory’s contributions from the notion of argument as a complex illocutionary act, which is a new approach that allows a more complete assessment of arguments, standard logic being insufficient. From our point of view, complexity in arguments production and evaluation has an impact on aspects like Rule of Law’s consolidation, given that exercise of power will be required not only compliance with the law but also the legitimacy of its decisions.
