Reconstruction of the intellectual field of sociological theories from the nineteenth century

This work studies some aspects and problems that emerged in the social theory evironment during the XIX century. It shows, first, the decisive role of transformations effected by evolucionism and romanticism in the different manners of thinking about what is social. In second place, it makes emphasis in the changes effected by classic political economy and Marx criticism on this topic. Three related historical problems are explained: 1) the loss of cognitive power by traditional social thought; 2) illustrated faith in Reason; and, 3) the social, economic, political and cultural transformations, derived from French and indlustrial revolutions. Finally, this work want to correlate all these factor on modern social theory genesis.
