Abstract

Adam Smith is a mystery, his name in the Scotland of his time was perhaps the most common, both, name and surname, however, he managed to get out of that apparent mediocrity to become a bestseller twice, first with his fundamental work The Theory of Moral Sentiments, then with the no less famous research An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations. Philosopher, concerned about ethical issues, member of the Scottish Enlightenment School, to which David Hume also belonged. In the 19th century the possible problem of incoherence between Smith's two works was enunciated. Today it is known that this is not the case, but the problem persists due to the lack of reading of the sage of Kirkcaldy work.
