Education in the values of a new century: Democracy, citizenship and human rights

This is a reflection on education, its relationship with values, and its implications in civic culture education. Special emphasis is placed on Democracy, Citizenship and Human Rights regarding the following four subjects: 1) the principles underpinning the educational work such as reality, necessity, aspiration, and development; 2) values and their relationship with education; 3) a possible answer to the question about the feasibility of education based on values; and finally, as a consequence of the later, 4) a proposal about education for the 21st century based on values of democratic culture is given.
