For centuries, philosophers and scientists have been arguing about the nature of mind and consciousness, without reaching consensus. Neuroscience has provided an important contribution to this debate. This essay presents some personal reflections on the postulates of philosophers and scientists that have influenced my current vision of the mind-body problem, which has been the result of a long search process that starts from the Christian notion of the mind, continues with the philosophy of mind, then with neurophilosophy, up to the top, as an epistemological synthesis, to neurophysiology as an integrator of my previous approaches.
