This article attempts to sketch an analytical of culture in Venezuela by using the conceptual tools developed by the French author Michel Foucault in this works. Basic lines of central value structures of Venezuelan culture are proposed. This analytical will allow us to look at the structure of Venezuelan society from its family structure. For this, the author takes into account the works of Alejandro Moreno and Samuel Hurtado. The debate includes, as its pivotal line, the implications of the discussion between Matricentrism (Alejandro Moreno) and Matrisociality (Samuel Hurtado) and its effects on the question of cultural modernity in Venezuela and its corresponding ethical-political implications.
