Notes for a critique of the liberal theory of democracy: a view from Latin America

The objective of this paper is to present a brief critique against the "demoliberal" conception in Latin American context, emphasizing the attempts to re-enforce the opening of new opportunities for political participation and deliberation, and also the exercise of citizenship. The author defends the effective elaboration of a project of philosophical education to enable the consecution of the desired democratic culture that is able to critically articulate new social-cultural symbols, discussions and practices. The intention is to create a new political pedagogical paradigm that enables the recuperation of the importance of the citizenship for a free and dignified life.
