Opression and liberation: The dual dynamics in the philosophy of liberation of E. Dussel

Abstract

Recognizing that there are in the Philosophy of Liberation social and normative elements evident in its objective of changing social behaviors, this essay aims to verify if it can be considered a social-normative theory, for which task we have recurred to the Introducción a la Filosofía de la Liberación by Enrique Dussel, and to the Ocho desiderata metodológicos de las teorías sociales normativas de Antoni Domènech which have been applied as an instrument to verify and evaluate the theory in the study.  Resulting from this application conclusions about the theory in itself, its social-normative characteristics, and, as a bonus, recommendations about the instrument and its application.
