This essay constitutes a reflection on the environmental crisis and climatic change from a humanistic point of view. In order to understand the present complex situation of humankind, the author suggests that it is necessary to criticize industrial society and its ways of life. To do so, it is required to revise the role of infrastructure and superstructure in the reproduction of a model that is not sustainable over time. It postulates the need for an epistemological paradigm shift along with acceptance and appreciation of cultural diversity and plurality of ideas as ways to avoid the hegemony of models and practices that have proven ill-ecological and highly destructive to the environment.
