Abstract

This article shows some inadequacies of the sociobiological theory about genuine human behavior. It is argued that sociobiology is insufficient to explain certain kinds of behavior where freedom has a strong influence. It is said that sociobiology is also insufficient because it does not explain the symbolic universe from which man builds new meanings. From this, the author argues that man, in his genuine acts, escapes the physicalist determinism that sociobiology and its reductionist philosophy promulgate.
