The article explores the extent to which On Certainty allows to explain why the skeptical position leads to nonsense. Both the skeptic, and Moore, who faces him, overlook the fact that certainty and knowledge, far from being degrees of the same, belong to "different categories". This distinction helps clarify the role of certainty, not only as the basis of the epistemic game, but the Weltbild and the role of philosophy in regard to their description and understanding.
