TEN YEARS OF COMMUNICATION RESEARCH AT UCAB GUAYANA: 2004 - 2014

This study is inserted in the thematic axis: “Formation and Epistemology of communication”; seeks to share how the research process has been at the School of Social Communication at the Andrés Bello Catholic University (UCAB) in Guayana, in the period 2004 - 2014. In 2004 the first graduate work projects were formulated. As of September 2014, there are 344 jobs, among the mentions of Journalism (288) and Advertising Communications (56). The first Audiovisual Arts jobs are expected in March 2015. The modalities most approached have been investigative journalism in the submodalities interpretive reporting and sketches (46.22%), production projects (15.41%), analysis of media and messages (14.24%), and communication strategies ( 12.21%). The problems have been around building the history of the media in the city, knowing the pioneers who have made contributions from a cultural, environmental and industrial point of view; understand different aspects of social dynamics, such as invasions, transportation, crime, and employment; decipher the codes of messages and stereotypes, contribute to the positioning and / or refreshes of brands, products and services, as well as design strategies for profit and non-profit organizations.
