UNITED FOR BIRDS EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM IN THE COASTAL MOUNTAIN RANGE (VENEZUELA, 2020-2024)

The intercultural program Unidos por las Aves (United by Birds), a Smithsonian initiative, connects children, youth, and communities that share avian migratory routes. Provita developed the program in the Venezuelan Coastal Range (2020–2024). Its goal was to promote awareness regarding the conservation of migratory and endemic birds through participatory activities and cultural exchange. Program materials were adapted to the local context of the communities of Piedra Cachimbo, La Florida, and El Lirial. The results show significant progress in the children's knowledge of migratory birds, the importance of biodiversity, and concrete conservation proposals.
