Abstract

The present investigation arose from the interest in knowing whether actions are currently being applied to
promote gender equality in management positions in the hotel sector. The objective was to analyze gender
equality practices in management positions in three companies in the hotel sector of Puerto Ordaz, Caroní
Municipality, Bolívar State, during the period March - October 2023. The research was descriptive, with a
non-experimental field design. The sample was represented by 33 workers who hold management positions
in these hotel entities. The instruments applied were the structured interview and the questionnaire. The
first allowed to inquire about the current situation of workers in the companies; 2 mixed questionnaires
were designed and applied, with dichotomous, multiple choice and Likert-type questions. The latter were
validated by the individual aggregate method, and to guarantee their reliability, the Cronbach's alpha
coefficient and the Kuder-Richardson coefficient (KR-20) were calculated. The results obtained showed
that the hotel entities comply with the principles of gender equality established by the Constitution of the
Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the Organic Law of Labor, Workers and Workers (LOTTT) and the
Organic Law on the Right of Women to a Life Free of Violence. It was found that in the personnel selection
process, sociodemographic characteristics are not relevant as long as the candidates for positions meet the
requirements established by the company. Finally, the working conditions related to the physical and social
work environment, and the aspects of the content of the work, are equal for men and women.
