Abstract

The study on the teaching-learning process of the Calculus subject focuses on the existence of problems in the classroom, to guide current university education towards the development of knowledge and skills in this specific area, where the responsibility falls on the teachers. Consequently, in a constantly changing higher education, students demand to know, integrate and practice teaching strategies that respond to the individual and collective contexts of learning communities. To verify the above, in this study it was proposed to collect information through direct interviews with teachers and the application of a survey to engineering students at the Andrés Bello Catholic University, Guayana campus, specifying a methodological framework that shed light on the object of study. , obtaining as a relevant conclusion, from the perspective of the students, the existence of deficiencies in the curricular, human and dynamic aspects of the Calculus subject. For teachers, from the human point of view, there is the existence of a pedagogical sensitivity in the teaching and learning process, which leads to the use of permanent interaction within the classroom for the development of the expected conceptual knowledge.
