This paper proposes a reflection on the criteria, both of structure and of content and organization, that should be used for the elaboration of a dictionary of literature of the Bolívar state. To do this, through documentary research, it delves into the conceptualization of dictionaries and their typologies. Then, the concepts of "region" and "literature" are studied in order to complete the semantic nuclei that make up the phrase under study: dictionary of regional literature. Through the search of dictionary sources, and their subsequent analysis, two Venezuelan dictionaries of regional literature (Zulia and Mérida) are studied, with the purpose of describing their metalexicographic criteria and their notions of dictionary, literature and region. After analyzing the criteria of these dictionaries, we reflect on their proposals in order to outline what a possible dictionary of literature of the Bolívar state should be like. The result of these reflections led us to consider a broad, diverse cultural perspective that takes into account the different languages that coexist in this territory and that questions the traditional idea of literature. It is hoped that these reflections serve as a guide for those who later consider the elaboration of that necessary project of a dictionary of what is ours.
