Abstract

The objective of the investigation was to characterize the current situation of the investigative activity developed by the undergraduate students of the UCAB Guayana. To achieve this, a descriptive study was applied, with a field design, in which school directors, teachers and students were approached through surveys designed for this purpose. The results obtained indicate: first, that in undergraduate schools research activities are promoted for students according to what is contemplated in the corresponding curriculum; second, that most of the surveyed teachers promote research activities from their curricular units; third, that students show interest in developing research activities associated with the careers they are studying. The results obtained give account of certain research activities developed by the students and their willingness to participate in additional activities if the application of some incentives is considered. Therefore, it is concluded that it is possible to implement strategies that encourage research activity in undergraduate students at UCAB Guayana.

Keywords: research activity, undergraduate students, incentive to research.
