THE FIRST HISTORY BOOK

Abstract

The following essay tries to highlight some aspects of Clío, the first structured book on Western history. I have divided it into three: the author, the work and the circumstance. More than a repetitive exegesis, unnecessary for an author as entertaining as Herodotus, it is a short literary essay (or historiographical if you will) that highlights some elementary aspects of the life and environment of the author.
