This article aims to analyze the Cecilio Acosta initial thinking based on the first four articles he wrote, collected from various sources and published in volume 9 of the collection Pensamiento Político Venezolano del siglo XIX: textos para su estudio (Venezuelan Political Thought of the 19th Century: texts for study), which is entirely dedicated to Acosta. In these articles, he already begins to emerge as one of the most solid Venezuelan thinkers of the second half of the 19th century. In this article, we will examine Political and Philosophical Reflections on the History of Society from its Beginnings to the Present, The Two Elements of Society, Freedom of the Press, and What Should Be Understood by “People,”. Finally, we will present our concluding remarks.
