Abstract
An exploratory study is presented in order to identify the leadership competencies, considered the most important and priority by middle-level management professors, namely: department heads and chair heads of the basic subjects of the Faculty of Engineering of the Andes Bello Catholic University, Caracas headquarters, Venezuela. This exploration is based on the instrument: Rehace Leadership Self-Diagnosis Tool, developed by Professor Manuel Álvarez, from the University of Deusto, Spain. The results indicate that the most important and priority competencies for them are teamwork and management and direction, while the least relevant is strategic planning. Detailed studies are recommended with the faculty's mid-level managers to describe the leadership profile and generate a proposal for training plans, on these topics, for said teaching staff.
