Abstract

This work aims to analyze the role of industrial technological innovation and sustainability within the framework of the cement industry. Considering only one of its effects on the environment, the emission of carbon dioxide (CO2), one of the largest pollutants in the atmosphere and cause of the greenhouse effect. It was developed under a qualitative method combining documentary review, patent search and some interviews to specify some aspects related to data and required information. Theoretical aspects, innovative efforts and the description of factors that affect these changes are presented, evidenced in an international context; which, when compared and integrated, gave rise to a series of conclusions that, briefly, specify that the role of industrial technological innovation and sustainability underlies the fact of understanding the complexity of environmental systems, including in the investigations elements that They influence change processes, in order to generate sustainable innovations.
