Comparación entre los valores deseados y los valores presentes en los estudiantes de la Universidad Católica Andrés Bello

El presente trabajo tuvo como objetivo comparar los resultados de lainvestigación que pretendió caracterizar a la población estudiantil de la UCAB en cuanto a su jerarquía de valores, con los valores deseables que se desprenden de los documentos-fuente de la UCAB. Para medir los valores se utilizó un instrumento contentivo de 55 valores los cuales eran calificados por los jóvenes según su importancia. Los estudiantes se eligieron por un muestreo por cuotas(escuela y año) siendo en total 3.384 estudiantes con una edad promedio de 21 años. Al analizar los documentos fuente se llegó a que los valores deseables pudieran dividirse en cuatro grupos: los valores que indican proyección a los demás (Amor, Honestidad, Justicia Social, Solidaridad y Tolerancia), los valores que se refieren a la relación con la trascendencia (Contemplación y Gratuidad, Cristianismo, Espiritualidad, Religión y Sobriedad), los valores políticos (Formación, Interés por el país, Integración latinoamericana, Paz y Progreso) y finalmente los valores Conocimiento y Sabiduría.

Comparison between the desired values and present values in the students of the Andres Bello Catholic University
Abstract
The purpose of this work is to compare the results of the research that characterized the student population of the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello based on their value hierarchy. To measure these values we used an instrument that named 55 values which had to be qualified by the students according to the importance given to them. The students were chosen with a quota system (Department and level) and the total was of 3384 students with an average age of 21. The results indicated that in respect to values related to the relations between human beings (Love, Honesty, Social Justice, Solidarity and Tolerance), political values (Interest for the country, Latin-American Integration and Progress) and the academic values (Knowledge andWisdom) there is concordance, but that in regard to the values related to the transcendental (Contemplation, Christianism, Espirituality and Religion) there is no concordance.
