Abstract

This research starts from the need to find in education a motive of inspiration, considering art as a means to see it presented and represented from the symbolic elements that characterize it. The objective is to review the history of the visual arts in Venezuela in order to highlight artists who, since the 18th century, have explicitly addressed the theme of education in their works. A perspective little explored so far, because the studies focus on the artist-teacher relationship. The methodology used is based on documentary review and is complemented with dialogues with contemporary artists, from a historical-contextual approach, to select and analyze their works. From these practical theoretical elements, a reflection on the progress of educational symbols and how they have been understood according to their contemporaneity is constructed.
