The objective of this study was the analysis of the perception of communicology in teachers and students of the Social Communication Program of the University of Boyacá (Colombia). It is a work with a transectional-descriptive design under the survey technique. A questionnaire was applied in September 2020, with three reminders in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th week. It is concluded that, regarding the perception of communicology or communication as a science, students and teachers are located right at the crossroads of the trans-complex look, like a kaleidoscopic perspective that clearly distances itself from any fundamentalist and dogmatic semblance, paving the way for the understanding of communication as a knowledge that allows articulating the rich field of social problems with which we are engaged today.
