LA AUTOMATIZACIÓN DE LA INFORMACIÓN SOBRE COMUNICACIÓN EN EL CIC DE LA UCAB

Después de presentar rápidamente los antecedentes que llevaron a la creación de un centro de investigación de la Comunicación en la UCAB, la autora define y explica los objetivos de dicho centro. El cuerpo central del artículo es dedicado a la descripción del proceso de registro y automatización de información venezolana sobre comunicación; área que se ha convertido en la gran prioridad de esta entidad. La descripción de la constitución de dos grandes bancos de datos - uno de información bibliográfica y el otro de imágenes- está acompañada de comentarios acerca de las dificultades y los aciertos para lograr productos de calidad respetable. La conclusión del trabajo asoma un debate sobre las implicaciones de la generación sistemática de información automatizada en nuestra área.

Abstract:

After briefly presenting the antecedents that contributed to the creation of the Center of Comunications Research in the UCAB, the author define and explains the objetives of this center. The central part of the article is dedicate to the description of the process of register and automatizing of venezuelan informations about communication. Description of the structure of two great data bases - one of bibliographical information and the other of images - is acompanied with comments about the obstacle and successes to obtain products of respectable quality. The conclusion of the work opens the door to the debate about the implications of sistematic generation of automatized information in our area.
