Management Model for the Sustainable Management and Use of Mobile Phone Waste in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela

Abstract

Currently, the evolution of the human race is closely related to technological advancement, among which Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) stand out. All this development brings with it the indiscriminate generation of waste electrical and electronic devices, a situation that deserves to be controlled in the best possible way. One of the electronic devices that is quickly discarded is the mobile phone, since this industry is characterized by introducing increasingly updated models to the market that are made with materials such as plastic, glass, ceramics and metals (gold, silver, platinum, cobalt , copper, among others) that have the particularity of being able to be recycled or used again in different production processes. It is worth mentioning that if this waste is disposed of without any type of control, it can cause damage to the environment and health, which is why it is necessary to establish policies and regulations. During the research, a management model was designed that aims to take advantage of secondary raw materials, through five (05) phases: efficient policies and legislation, economically viable business and finance approach, cutting-edge technological development, marketing and social awareness. , effective monitoring and control. In addition, the stages and processes of the Environmental Management System for Mobile Phone Waste and other WEEE/ICT were proposed, framed in the monitoring and effective control phase, as well as some alternatives for recovery and use, treatment and final disposal.
