Abstract
Spelling is an element of the grammar of the language that is sometimes given little importance; However, having good spelling is one of the essential skills for academic training and should be a requirement for any professional. It is necessary to propose new strategies for its teaching and consolidation in university training, and for each teacher - regardless of their area - to contribute to achieving this competence in future engineers. The teaching-learning strategies that have been used until now should be reviewed and attempts should be made to introduce changes that range from valuing spelling to creating spelling awareness that allows textual correction as part of a whole.
