About the Journal
Focus and scope
Tekhné, as of 2016, is a periodical refereed digital journal, where unpublished works and original contributions are published, attached to the Faculty of Engineering of the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello. Although until 2015 it was a physical publication, all the old issues are uploaded in the OJS portal with the formats and standards of a printed media.
The objectives of Tekhné Journal are:
- Disseminate research conducted by the different units or members of the Faculty of Engineering of UCAB, both nationally, Latin American and international.
- Promote the study and reflection on the domain of knowledge related to engineering in its various specialties.
- Strengthen the knowledge of the Venezuelan, Latin American and world reality through the dissemination of original research.
- Encourage discussion and debate on research problems in the field of knowledge and research related to engineering.
- Promote research and evaluation of community projects aimed at finding solutions to problems affecting the most needy social sectors.
- Promote the inclusion of articles by national and international researchers who are not part of the faculty and research staff of UCAB.
Peer review process
Tekhné's peer review process stipulates that each article be evaluated by at least two specialists in the subject matter of the work. Each reviewer receives the article without any indication from the authors, and the authors in turn receive the observations without explicitly knowing who the reviewers were. This is for the sake of greater objectivity and freedom in the evaluation process.
The editorial committee proposes the specialists who are selected according to the guidelines and objectives of the journal. They will evaluate the article and will have one month to submit their observations. If they do not accomplish this period, a new reviewer is appointed until a majority agreement is reached on the acceptance or rejection of the work. The observations are sent to the authors who can correct and, in case of conditional acceptance, resubmit their article. This will be reviewed again by the referees, or the editorial committee itself, to verify that the observations were taken into account.
At the end of this process, a note is made of the day that will be counted in the records as the date of acceptance of the paper.
Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate free access to its content under the principle of making scientific contributions freely available to the general public. This encourages a greater exchange of global knowledge and facilitates the dissemination of research work.
Online Publication
Once your article has been approved and the print proof has been corrected, the article will be published online.
Long-term preservation service
The computer systems of the Information Technology Directorate of the Andrés Bello Catholic University (DTI-UCAB) makes a backup copy of the articles that arrive in Tekhné, Journal of the Faculty of Engineering, thus ensuring the digital preservation of the manuscripts received and published on our platform.
