Venezuela has resources in renewable energies such as solar energy that would allow diversifying the energy matrix, a case of application is photovoltaic, which has been growing its implementation worldwide. When electricity rationing occurs in the country, it is necessary to find quick and environmentally friendly solutions and directly linked to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The objective of this work is to design an alternative for the generation of electricity at residential level, in a typical house, located in the central region of the country. For the design, we considered equipment available in the country that complies with international quality standards. With the average residential demand, a 2.2 kWp photovoltaic panel system was obtained, with battery backup for more than 6 hours and a 6 kVA inverter. The energy production of this photovoltaic system depends on the solar radiation indexes of the site, but the country offers ideal conditions for the exploitation of this type of energy.
