- Strengthen the knowledge of the Venezuelan, Latin American and world reality through the dissemination of original research.
- Encourage discussion and debate on research problems in the field of knowledge and research related to engineering.
- Promote research and evaluation of community projects aimed at finding solutions to problems affecting the most needy social sectors.
- Promote the inclusion of articles by national and international researchers who are not part of the faculty and research staff of UCAB.
Receive and publish frequencies.
The magazine is published semiannually (January-June and July-December), published during the first month of the declared period. Submission guidelines can be found in “Guidelines for Authors” in the Submissions section. The reception of articles is open permanently.
Peer review process
Tekhné's peer review process stipulates that each article be evaluated by at least two specialists in the subject matter of the work. Each reviewer receives the article without any indication from the authors, and the authors in turn receive the observations without explicitly knowing who the reviewers were. This is for the sake of greater objectivity and freedom in the evaluation process.
The editorial committee proposes the specialists who are selected according to the guidelines and objectives of the journal. They will evaluate the article and will have one month to submit their observations. If they do not accomplish this period, a new reviewer is appointed until a majority agreement is reached on the acceptance or rejection of the work. The observations are sent to the authors who can correct and, in case of conditional acceptance, resubmit their article. This will be reviewed again by the referees, or the editorial committee itself, to verify that the observations were taken into account.
At the end of this process, a note is made of the day that will be counted in the records as the date of acceptance of the paper.
Open access policy
This journal provides immediate free access to its content under the principle of making research freely available to the public, which fosters greater global knowledge sharing. The journal as an editorial effort for scientific dissemination adjusts its open access policy to the definition of Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI, 2001) where it refers as open access the "free availability on the public internet that allows any user to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search or add a link to the full text of those articles, track them for indexing, incorporate them as data in software, or use them for any other purpose that is legal, without financial, legal or technical barriers other than those that are inseparable from access to the internet itself."
The articles published in Revista Tekhné are subject to a Creative Commons CC BY-NC-SA license and may be reproduced for any non-commercial use with acknowledgment to the author.
In accordance with its open access policy, the journal allows and encourages authors to publish their articles in institutional or thematic repositories, or on their personal websites, after publication. This practice aims to increase the visibility, dissemination, and impact of the research.
Publication fees and costs
It is published electronically and is committed to free access to scientific knowledge, which is why it does not charge authors for submission or publication.
Access and reuse policies
Revista Tekhné is an academic journal published by the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello, Venezuela.Revista Tekhné is published in 100% open access format, in addition to not charging charges for processing articles, charges for sending articles are also non-existent.
Each article will be accompanied by a letter from the main author, specifying that the materials are unpublished and that they will not be presented to any other media before knowing the decision of the Editorial Board. The author must attach a signed declaration indicating what type of law his article presents, remembering that the university suggests using the free access type, without forgetting to mention the main source.
Plagiarism Check
Revista Tekhné, in order to guarantee the academic integrity of the publication, uses the TURNITIN application that allows you to review documents by detecting similarities, incorrect citations or possible plagiarism. Every document upon receipt by the editorial committee will be subjected to the process of detecting similarities to avoid plagiarism. It will then go to a selection phase and a ruling process.
Judgment process
In the first phase, the Editorial Board will select the articles that correspond to the thematic areas covered in the journal and that meet the academic requirements essential for a scientific article. In the second phase, the contributions will be submitted to the opinion of two specialists in the corresponding subject.
Once the Editorial Board has determined that the submission meets all the established application requirements, the judgment process will begin.
When the author is part of the UCAB staff, his or her work will necessarily be ruled by referees external to this institution. Otherwise, the arbitration may be internal or external to the UCAB. If there is a contradiction between both opinions, a third evaluation will be carried out, which will be considered final. The ruling process will be secret and no nominal information will be given about it.
The writings submitted for publication in the articles section will be subjected to double-blind peer review. Contributions for this section must be free of information that allows the author to be identified. Therefore, the name and affiliation should not appear anywhere in the manuscript. References to the author's previous works must be made in the third person.
The peer evaluation process will take a minimum of five and a maximum of seven months. During the evaluation process, the anonymity of the authors and peer reviewers will be guaranteed. The peer evaluators will be academics with national or international recognition in the subject of the writing. The journal has evaluators external to the institution in order to guarantee the accuracy of the review process.
The writings submitted for publication in the communications, essays, discussions, and reviews section will be submitted to the single-blind review system. The Editorial Board may make recommendations of substance and form that enrich the quality of the work.
Once the evaluations have been issued, the minutes of the opinion will be sent to the authors; These will have a period of no more than three weeks to deliver the final version of the article with the pertinent corrections. The Writing Councile of the journal will compare the final version with the opinions and inform the authors in which issue of the journal their work will be published. Without exception, accepted contributions will undergo a style correction based on the linguistic standard of the Spanish language, and their publication will be subject to the availability of space in each issue. In all phases the decision will be final.
