Management maturity of third sector organizations that provide services in the areas of food, health and education in Venezuela

The complex humanitarian emergency in Venezuela has led to a severe worsening of living conditions and an alarming increase in poverty and inequalities, a situation that is accentuated by the COVID19 pandemic and the socio-political circumstances that have been cracking the institutional public framework. While economic, educational, food, service and health indicators have reached alarming levels that are already subjecting the population to consequences that will be evident in the medium and long term, immediate work is urgently needed to help mitigate them. In this sense, the action of civil society through organizations for social assistance, cooperatives, and supporting victims of actions by State security agencies, has been key. In this sense, the defense and strengthening of the Venezuelan third sector becomes a priority.
By virtue of this, the Andrés Bello Catholic University (UCAB), with the support and technical assistance of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), has proposed the creation of the 'Center for the Third Sector' (CTS-UCAB), a platform for the strengthening of Venezuelan civil society organizations (CSOs), whose mission is to contribute to the improvement of their management, advocacy and alliance-building capacities, and thus positively influence these organizations to expand their impact on the transformation of Venezuelan society.
