Abstract

In 1784, the parish of Santa Rosalia de El Hatillo was created. Mr. Mariano Marti was then the Bishop of Caracas and Mr. Don Manuel González Torres de Navarra was the Captain General and Vice Patron. Mr. Baltasar de León captained the neighbors of the Hatillo in his request for the creation of the parish. The territory of the new ecclesiastical constituency would be dismembered from the old parish of Baruta. Nevertheless, problems over parish boundaries could not be dodged. The parish priests of El Hatillo during the eighteenth century were fathers Nicolás de Osío, Don Pedro Joseph González and Don Vicente de la Trinidad Avila.
