En este artículo se revisa la vida y obra de un antiguo profesor de la UCAB, el Dr. Bartomeu Oliver Orell, que nacido en Mallorca se exilió, debido a la Guerra Civil española, en Venezuela donde ocupó diversos cargos académicos. Aquí se analiza su biografía, su poesía, su ideología a favor de los derechos políticos de los países de habla catalana, su humanismo y, especialmente, su obra pedagógica, instituida en el Instituto Técnico Eulalia de Barcelona, colegio de pedagogía progresista integrado en las corrientes de la Escuela Nueva.

Abstract
This article reviews the life and work of a former professor of Andres Bello Catholic University, the Dr. Bartomeu Oliver Orell. Having been born in Majorca he went to Venezuela in exile, due to the Spanish Civil War, where heheld various academic positions. Here we review his biography, his poetry, and his ideology in favour to the political rights of the Catalan-speaking countries, his humanism, and especially his pedagogical work which was developed at the Eulalia Technical Institute of Barcelona, a school of progressive pedagogy integrated in the currents of New School.
