Abstract

It seems essential to investigate the relationship between precarious and inadequate working conditions and risk factors related to the overload of formal and informal caregivers in Latin America and the Caribbean. This research was carried out under the descriptive and cross-sectional method that sought to establish a profile of overload and emotional regulation in people who care for in Spanish-speaking countries located on the American Continent; applying a quantitative approach, through the measurement of independent variables: sociodemographic data, overload, emotional regulation, and hopelessness. The caregivers presented an average age of 48.6 years, were mostly married, and had between 1 child and 9 children, 40% presented some type of disease, more than 72.65% consume some type of drug, and the overload was statistically significant. The evaluations took place between June 2021 and June 2022.
