In this aricle, Jesus Manuel Jáuregui Moreno's (1848-1905)
contributions to the Venezuelan History of Science are studied,
given his trajectory in national and international scientific
societies and because bis introduction of an epistemological
rupture in the scientific conception of the Andean region of
Tachira. In the essay, it deserves attention his contribution to
the mathematics field, specially the quadrature of the circle.
The article is framed in the "history synthesis", conception in
which are intersected the history of the science, history of the
education and the church, to try to get a critical vision of the
historical fact.
