This work analyzes the official and popular perceptions on the
leprosy in Costa Rica during period 1784-1845. The first
section analyzes the evolution in the perceptions on the
leprosy from the Antiquity to the Middle Ages. The second
section studies when, where and why a native speech arises
on the leprosy in the Costa Rica in transir towards agrarian
Capitalism; also, the variations in the social impact of this
speech are explored. Finally in the section third it is deepened
in the social implications of the gradual assumption of the
native speech on the leprosy from the analysis of two specific
cases.
