Abstract

The definition of fun does not seem the best recommendation for an academic book. However, as Marc Bloch reminds us in his classic Apology for History or the Historian's Trade, at the bottom of everything that moves those of us who in one way or another dedicate ourselves to this discipline is the fact that it amuses us. Moreover, if the erudition, the great theses and interpretations, and the abundant data are accompanied by a courteous prose -courteous in the Orteguian sense- the work to which we are now turning raises its attractiveness in several potencies.
