Abstract

This article presents the historical facts and explains the predominant lines of interpretation on political history of the eastern provinces of Venezuela in “Gran Colombia” (1821-1830), based on several works that deals with that republic, written by historians from the Venezuelan and Colombian academic environment. Along with clarifying the “state of art” of the object that concerns us, we pretend to show the wide possibilities of research that stills exist on the political history of eastern Venezuela in old Colombia and, more broadly, of the East of Venezuela during the 19th century.
