Abstract

The article aims to study the receptions that took place during the visits to the reductions of Paraguay, from the
missionaries and superiors of the order to the bishops, including the governors. The focus is on these indigenous populations under the care of the Jesuits from the creation of the first reductions until the expulsion. The
question we ask ourselves is to what extent the population structures are modified in the face of the celebrations held in the baroque environment where rituals and ephemeral art play a predominant role in an interruption of the everyday life of the inhabitants who become participants in the festivities.
