Abstract

The theme we intend to develop in this study: the relationship of the evangelizing method of the Society of Jesus, in Seville, with the employee in America and, in particular, with the theological question of the validity of baptism received by black-African slaves arriving on the charges from the western coasts of Portugal-dominated Africa. Therefore, it should be noted that the Society of Jesus, which arrived in Peru, in 1568, has a previous experience, in the evangelization and catechesis of African slaves, since its establishment, in Seville in 1554.
