Abstract

In the year 1682, the missionaries managed to enter our region, after great efforts to maintain their objectives of reducing the indigenous peoples by finding their hostilities and the natural warrior spirit of the Caribs, the jungle topography and geography, to the great currents of the mighty rivers of our region that in winter or rainy periods flooded large extensions of land making it impossible to penetrate the different territories, coupled with the presence of highly poisonous snakes such as native animals and wild beasts and the prevalence
of those tropical diseases that the Spanish and European conquest were unaware of in their medical studies.
