Fue tío carnal de los hermanos Carlos y Juan Tolrá Marsella, coroneles del ejército del “Pacificador” Pablo Morillo, quienes lucharían contra Simón Bolívar. El ignaciano Juan José se dedicó enteramente a la restauración de la Compañía de Jesús, especialmente en el área de las Humanidades en el que fue referencia indiscutible, siendo uno de los padres más ancianos y respetados. Analizamos su poesía humanística dentro del contexto histórico de los primeros años de la Compañía de Jesús restaurada.</p><p><strong>Palabras clave:</strong> Restauración de la Compañía de Jesús, Colegio de Alcalá, Palencia, Cristo del Otero, Fernando VII, Olózaga, testamentos jesuíticos, Juan José Tolrá, Carlos Tolrá, Juan Tolrá, Simón Bolívar.</p><p><strong>Abstract:</strong></p><p>The expelled Jesuit Juan José Tolrá (Badajoz, 1739-Madrid, 1830) was a competent professor of Humanities and one of the most influential restaurateurs of the Company of Jesus (1812-1830). He was carnal uncle of the brothers Carlos and Juan Tolrá Marseilles, colonels of the army of the "Pacificador" Pablo Morillo, who fought against Simón Bolívar. The Ignatian Juan José dedicated himself entirely to the restoration of the Society of Jesus, especially in the area of Humanities in which he was an undisputed reference, being one of the oldest and most respected priests.
