NEGARSE A MORIR, PRÓCERES ENTRE LA MEMORIA Y EL OLVIDO, RECUERDOS DEL GENERAL CLEMENTE ZÁRRAGA

En el artículo discutimos como memoria y olvidos se manifiestan en la historiografía nacional. En un discurso histórico construido para valorar determinados hechos y negar otros, procreando una “memoria obligada” vinculada con el culto a los héroes. Culto resultado de la selección de próceres y eventos sumados a la memoria histórica para determinado fin, mientras que otros aspectos de la historia reposan olvidados en archivos y recuerdos fragmentados por el tiempo. Sin embargo, recientemente la revisión del conocimiento académico abre la posibilidad para la comprensión histórica desde miradas que permanecían ocultas y que se develan con la investigación, tal es la suerte del general Clemente Zárraga, más reconocido en Argentina que en Venezuela, dibujado con finura por escritores latinoamericanos del siglo XIX, venezolano que aun adolescente acompañó a Páez en Puerto Cabello y al Libertador en la Campaña del Sur. Su voz interior y su estampa nos llega a través de documentos oficiales, de cartas, de periódicos, del daguerrotipo y de su historia familiar como si se negara a morir en el olvido para permitirnos aproximarnos a través de la reconstrucción del proceso histórico venezolano del siglo XIX desde otra mirada.

Abstract:

In the article we discussed how memory and forgetfulness are manifested in national historiography. In a historical speech built to value certain facts and deny others, procreating an "obligatory memory" tied to the cult of heroes. Cult as result from the selection of heroes and events added to the historical memory for a specific purpose, while other aspects of history remain forgotten in archives and memories fragmented in the time. However, recently the revision of academic knowledge opens the possibility for the historical comprehension from looks that remained hidden that are revealed with the investigation, Such is the luck of General Clemente Zárraga, more recognized in Argentina than in Venezuela, Drawn with fineness by Latin American writers from XIX century, Venezuelan who even being adolescent accompanied to Páez in Puerto Cabello and the Liberator in the South Campaign. His inner voice and his mark comes to us through official documents, of letters, of newspapers, of the daguerreotype and of his family history, as if he refuses to die in the forgetfulness to allow us to approach him through the reconstruction of the Venezuelan historical process of XIX century from another point of view.
