LA CREACIÓN DE UNA DIÓCESIS ECLESIÁSTICA: EN EL CONTEXTO DE LOS 50 AÑOS DE LA FUNDACIÓN DEL OBISPADO DE LOS TEQUES (1965-2015)

A través de este ensayo, se pretende presentar una mirada a la historia de la Diócesis de Los Teques. La relevancia del tema, requiere que ésta se escriba no sólo como relato de sucesión de hechos, sino con la intención de familiarizar al lector contemporáneo con los términos o categorías que se usan en dichos relatos. Es por ello, que se optó por una mirada general y sencilla sobre la historia de la diócesis eclesiástica como parte de un proceso de organización y asimilación del imaginario de la institución eclesial, al cual hay que agregarel del Obispo, personaje que es cabeza y guía de dicha circunscripción. La Diócesis tequense es hija de la Arquidiócesis caraqueña, y a su vez es madre de la Diócesis deGuarenas y de la proyectada y futura Diócesis de los Valles del Tuy. Nació en el contextohistórico de la realización del Concilio Vaticano II, el fortalecimiento del EpiscopadoLatinoamericano, y, en el ámbito nacional con la renovación interna de la Iglesiavenezolana, aunado al reconocimiento jurídico con la concreción del Convenio Iglesia-Estado venezolano.

Abstract:

This essay is a look at the history of the Diocese of Los Teques. The relevance of thehistory of the Catholic Church in Venezuela makes it necessary to write not only as anarrative of succession of events, but with the intention that it is understandable for thecontemporary reader the terms or categories that are used in said stories. It is for this reason that we opted for a general and simple look at the history of the ecclesiastical diocese aspart of a process of organization and assimilation of the imaginary of the ecclesialinstitution, to which we must add that of the bishop, a person who is head and Guide of thiscircumscription, closely related. Often, in colloquial use categories of the Catholicinstitution are usually pronounced but their meaning is not known. Consequently, withinthe framework of the fiftieth anniversary of the creation of the bishopric of Los Teques, itwas intended to carry out the historical view with a pedagogical purpose. The TequenseDiocese is a daughter of the Archdiocese of Caracas, and is also the mother of the Dioceseof Guarenas and the planned and future Diocese of the Valleys of Tuy. It was born in thehistorical context of the realization of the Second Vatican Council, the strengthening of theLatin American Episcopate, and, in the national field with the internal renewal of theVenezuelan Church, coupled with legal recognition with the concretion of the VenezuelanChurch State Convention.
